The Rapid Access Tool (RAT) provides Protective Operations Teams, First Responders, Military groups, and personnel operating in high-threat environments around the world with a tool and a proven method to quickly breach armored vehicles and other ballistically protected spaces. The patented Rapid Access Tool was designed by a former Firefighter and Security Specialist with the United States Secret Service. The Rapid Access Tool is designed and engineered to be compact, light-weight, highly portable and provide operators with a proven method to gain immediate access into armored vehicles and other ballistically protected or reinforced spaces. Access can now be gained faster than ever before thanks to this field expedient tool and method.
As armored vehicles become increasingly prevalent both domestically and abroad, the use of antiquated extrication technology on modern armored vehicles makes rapid rescues unachievable. Conventional tools such as hydraulic spreaders and gasoline powered saws present unique problems to rescuers faced with the complexity of having to breach armored vehicles. Armored vehicles are typically designed to repel forces that are directed from the exterior of the space. This condition makes conventional tools and methods virtually ineffective or extremely time consuming and manpower intensive. Most conventional extrication tool systems require multiple tasks to set up, advanced levels of training to be proficient in using the tools, and support equipment such as generators, pumps, and additional fuel supplies to maintain operations.
Numerous fire and rescue departments and personnel operating in war zones across the globe have expressed an absolute need to have a tool that can be used to breach armored vehicles that have been involved in crashes or structurally compromised from events involving Improvised Explosive Devices (IED’s). Prior to the Rapid Access Tool, there has been no sufficient solution that is commercially available to expeditiously achieve this vital task.
The Rapid Access Tool is compact and can be stowed in the passenger compartment or trunk of most any vehicle. Unlike the conventional tool systems available, no hazardous or flammable materials such as hydraulic fluid, oil, or gasoline are used with the Rapid Access Tool. The Rapid Access Tool system is self contained and is used independently from any other rescue equipment. The Rapid Access Tool is packaged in a rugged kit which has been designed for quick and easy use when life saving seconds count.
Potential uses of the Rapid Access Tool include:
- Armored Vehicle Rescue
- Breaching Buildings with Ballistic Windows or Doors
- Ventilating Ballistically Protected Spaces
- Forcible Entry into Hardened Spaces
- mergency Extractions from Protected Spaces
The benefits of the Rapid Access Tool are numerous and will ultimately help to save lives of personnel operating throughout the world by quickly breaching armored vehicles and other ballistically protected spaces.
The Rapid Access Tool breaches sedans and SUV’s in approximately 1 minute and is:
- Field Expedient
- Simple to Use
The Rapid Access Tool system is assembled in two distinctively different configurations: the Tactical Operator Kit and the CEO Kit. The kits are identical in content, but packaged differently to accommodate specific response requirements.
The Tactical Operator Kit is designed for personnel typically working in high-threat or tactically demanding environments. Personnel assigned to motorcades, convoys, rapid response teams, and personal security teams typically prefer the Tactical Operator Kit configuration. The equipment is organized into two separate Pelican (1520) hard cases. The first case contains the required equipment for conducting the initial rescue or breach and the second case contains spare and support equipment for additional operations.
The CEO Kit is designed to be transported in a standard size vehicle to an emergency scene and can be used by small protective details and corporate clients.
